Our Story
The idea
Most home lighting is designed for utility — bright, even, reliable. That’s a fine thing for a kitchen at 7 a.m. It’s a poor thing for a living room at 9 p.m.
Lumae started from a simple question: what would it look like if lighting was designed for the other end of the day?
Not for tasks. For atmosphere. For the long part of the evening when the day is over and the space you’re in starts to matter.
What we make
We make a curated collection of ambient lamps — chosen for warmth, shape, and the way they live in a room. Some are cordless and portable; some are designed to settle into a corner. From the dining table during the long part of the meal, to the bedside, to the windowsill on the right kind of night.
Every lamp in the Lumae collection is chosen for its warmth first. We start with the light itself — the color temperature, the diffusion, the way it behaves in a room — and work backwards to the form.
How we source
We source carefully and we’re honest about what that means: we work with a small set of manufacturers who produce to a higher standard than most of what ends up in online marketplaces. We inspect every product in the range for build quality, LED consistency, and battery reliability before it’s offered for sale.
We’re not a mass-market lamp company. We have a focused catalog, and we intend to keep it that way.
The range
Vesper is the founding piece: a weighted metal base, a frosted globe, 2700K warm LED, USB-C rechargeable. The lamp we’d want to live with ourselves.
The collection begins with Vesper. More pieces are being selected with the same restraint — table lamps, portable pieces, and ambient lighting for the parts of the home that ask for a softer glow.
The promise
We believe that good light — light that actually changes how a space feels — shouldn’t require a $400 lamp from a design boutique. It should be within reach, and it should last.
If something goes wrong, we make it right. Thirty-day returns, no questions asked. If your lamp arrives damaged, we replace it.
That’s the whole idea.
